END MENTAL HEALTH/ILLNESS STIGMA
I truly apologised if this blog may seems boring or maybe something that is quite similar to my previous post but i felt that i have truly done my best to be happy & to survive on this bullshit world where no one accepts the truth. Full story? I don't know how to explain this but if you read it through, you may know what i am trying to say. I believed that some other popular vloggers on the internet & bloggers on social media platforms has talked about this topic or covered this topic but here i am going to raise my opinion on this matter & once again, i truly apologised if my opinion is similar to them because we have the same views, not just because we are having the same illness, we are trying to be "twins" in this matter - NOPE. I have truly understand what they have been going through therefore which is why i understand them.
Firstly, let me clear some issues first. I have came back inside mental institution again on 14th February 2017 & stayed there for 11 days 10 nights - real issue? Won't totally reveal here (sorry, long story). After i came out from the hospital, everything changed. My point of view towards the society, government & people. I started to hear everyone judging people with mental illness & how mental illness was just a "show". Mental illness has become a stigma & truly this hurts me the most, especially since i discovered that i was suffering from different mental disorders & having to eat medications everydayd just to keep this mood balance, i feel totally being judged or being pointed out by everyone. I could still remember how i came across to this one particular comment that was posted by one YouTube user about how embarrassing & disgraceful mental disorders are, it really breaks my heart having to see them because i mean, there are lots of reasons why we are given such disorders but having someone who is not suffering from any mental disorders - saying to someone who is suffering from one & says that it such shameful, disgraceful & etc - really heartbreaking. I do admit that mental illness has given me lots of opportunities that my past has not given me? It showed me lots of things that i should have seen & it made me realise that everyone in this world can or cannot be trusted easily.
It's not a JOKE to make fun about something which is serious as physical health. It's not a JOKE to discriminate someone with mental illness. It's not a JOKE to make judgments or humiliate someone with mental illness. Mental illness is a SERIOUS illness which requires lots of attentions & patience from care-givers & professionals. I am seriously disheartened & not pleased that now communities these days are so judgemental & biased especially towards people with mental disorders. Just because we were labelled by professionals as someone with mental disorders, that doesn't mean we are crazy. We are just someone who needs help. Need proper care & requirement of someone to help us to get back on our feet as someone who is okay to be in an open society where we can socialise & make friends. That is what we wanted to be. There are some point of time where people misunderstood mental illness - that some people nowdays are FIRED from their jobs just because they aren't mentally healthy or just because they were labelled as mentally ill or just because HE/SHE has a record of mental illness?
I am not pointing fingers at anybody or any companies out there but i am just sharing my true experiences when i tried to get a job of see someone tried to get jobs. It's not easy. I do agreed that there are times relapse came in but sometimes we may be out of control & we need someone to help us but instead, we are getting labelled as "freak". I just want this STIGMA to end. NO ONE DESERVES TO BE TREATED THIS WAY. NO ONE DESERVES TO BE TREATED "DIFFERENTLY" JUST BECAUSE YOU ARE MENTALLY ILL OR HAS MENTAL HEALTH RECORDS. NO ONE DESERVES TO BE JUDGED OR DISCRIMINATE BY OTHERS. Guys, please help us to #ENDTHISSTIGMA. It's truly unpleasent to be misjudged just because of our mental disorders. We need to help spread the word & end this STIGMA.
If you are someone or see someone who suffers from mental illness & you are being treated differently at work or mistreated by colleague, please do not stay quiet & speak out. You matters. Do not stay in the dark just because you have mental illness. Remember. Mental illness may change who we are but we are still human have feelings & we matters to everyone. Speak out for yourself or someone who got treated differently. End this stigma. Spread the word. We worth this fight.
